Anita's Book

Picture
Slowly raising my head to meet her earnest gaze, I saw the stark terror in her heart. Where, oh where, was the defiant waif who only a few weeks ago had stood toe to toe with the beast? Who was this tortured soul standing before me imploring my tiny six-year-old mind to absorb this crushing reality? The air seemed to still around us and for a moment I could not breathe. “Don’t go!” Debbie hissed through clenched teeth. Involuntarily my head jerked around to confront this most unlikely source of support. “Let him kill us” she breathed, her eyes squinted in steely determination. “Let him kill Mom! Let him kill everybody! You don’t have to go!” “No Debbie, she has to.” Pam said tears now falling down her cheeks. “What about the baby? If he kills us who will take care of baby Brian?” We stood there, a pathetic huddle of three small girls searching our hearts to find the sacrificial lamb that would assuage the passion of the beast. My little hands on my hips I dropped my head knowing for some ungodly reason I must go. I looked back up into their stark little faces once more to hear Debbie whisper shaking her head bank forth, “Don’t do it. Don’t go. Don’t go!” Teeth clenched together, little fists clenched at my sides I strode quickly back to the house before my courage failed me.

Book Reviews

This book is amazing. I experienced every emotion while reading this book. At times I teared up in sympathy for the little girls I could envision so well and other times I wished I could reach into this book and kill the monster of a father these children endured. Other times I found myself smiling at the childlike innocence of little Anita and how she found beauty in simple things. I'm longing for a sequel as I need answers to some unanswered questions. Anita Ayers is an amazing writer...I pictured each scene with vivid detail. Jill R

As a victim of abuse, I welcome your book and its invitation for healing.Your life story is a most remarkable tribute to the work of God through the grace of Jesus Christ. I pray that your book will be used as a source book for healing from the shame and negativity that result from sexual abuse. I pray that your audience for this book is first the worldwide Body of Christ, then other professional business and individual persons.

Blessings.
